Playa Quemada
South of the Marina Puerto Calero there is the little village of Playa Quemada, with its idyllically located pebble beach. This is an almost untouched, quiet bay with a few fish restaurants in the village. At the beach itself one must be a bit careful if one wants to go swimming, for the rocks can be quite slippery.

Papagayo Beaches
The famous Papagayo beaches, which once were an absolute insider tip, can be found at Playa Blanca. Unfortunately, there is not much left of the idyll of yesteryear, which you cannot help noticing, if not before, then when you come to the gate and have to pay a parking fee. It is also very popular as a bay to anchor in for those arriving by water.

Playa Blanca
At the southern tip of the island, you will find Playa Blanca with its beaches. This is the tourist destination that has grown almost explosively during the last few years. Those who knew the little fishing village from long ago cannot believe that it is the same place.

Playa Janubio
Playa Janubio with its black sand lies on the road from Yaiza to El Golfo; it lines the lagoon in which the Salinas del Janubio are located. It is a wild beach, with very few people on it. A unique feature is the black sand, which becomes very hot in the summer.
